Warm Strawberry Balsamic Sundae

Warm Strawberry Balsamic Ice Cream Topping

Simple desserts are often the best desserts, especially when strawberries are involved. This Warm Strawberry Balsamic Sundae brings together fresh strawberries, honey, and our Strawberry White Balsamic for a sweet-tart topping that melts beautifully over vanilla ice cream.

As the strawberries warm in the skillet, they soften into a ruby-red sauce while still keeping some of their shape. The honey adds gentle sweetness, and the Strawberry White Balsamic gives the dessert a bright, fruity finish that keeps it from feeling too heavy.

Why We Love This Dessert

This is the kind of recipe that feels special without asking much from you. It only takes a few minutes on the stovetop, but the result feels like something you would order at a restaurant.

The warm strawberries slightly melt the ice cream, creating a creamy, sweet, tangy dessert with very little effort. It is also easy to serve over plain yogurt if you want something lighter for brunch, an afternoon treat, or a simple fruit-forward dessert.

A Simple Way to Elevate Fresh Strawberries

Strawberries and balsamic are a classic pairing for a reason. The balsamic brings out the natural sweetness of the berries while adding depth and brightness. In this recipe, our Strawberry White Balsamic keeps the flavor fresh, smooth, and berry-forward.

Serve it as-is, or dress it up with a sprinkle of chopped nuts, shaved dark chocolate, fresh mint, or a spoonful of whipped cream.

Serving Ideas

Spoon the warm strawberry balsamic topping over vanilla ice cream for a quick sundae, or serve it over plain Greek yogurt for a lighter option. It would also be lovely over pound cake, cheesecake, waffles, pancakes, French toast, warm biscuits, or fresh scones.

For entertaining, make the strawberry topping just before serving and set out bowls of vanilla ice cream with a few toppings so guests can build their own dessert.

  • 2 tbsp honey, preferably local and raw

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream or plain yogurt

Directions

  1. Add butter to a large skillet and melt over medium heat.

Recipe Notes

Serve immediately while the strawberries are still warm so they gently melt into the ice cream.

For a lighter option, spoon the topping over plain Greek yogurt.

This topping is also delicious over waffles, pancakes, French toast, pound cake, cheesecake, warm biscuits, or scones.

Add chopped nuts, shaved dark chocolate, whipped cream, or fresh mint for an easy finishing touch.
