2023
After several years of experimenting with whole-cluster winemaking, Château La Loubière has expanded its range with a distinctive new limited-production wine: a 100% Muscadelle, individually numbered, with only 911 bottles produced.
While Muscadelle is a traditional Bordeaux grape variety, its delicate nature and high susceptibility to disease make it a challenge to grow. Much of it has been removed from vineyards across the region, and today it represents only 7% of Bordeaux's vineyard plantings, highlighting both its rarity and the complexity of cultivating it. Its distinctive floral aromas and uniquely rich palate inspired our team to undertake the meticulous work of bringing this remarkable grape back into the spotlight.
"Thanks to our biodynamic vineyard practices, we've been able to successfully manage the challenges associated with growing Muscadelle. The 2023 vintage gave us an exceptional harvest, and we wanted to showcase it as a single-varietal wine. This is quite unconventional for Bordeaux, where Muscadelle is typically blended with Sauvignon Blanc and/or Sémillon," explains Caroline Teycheney, President of Vignobles Jade.
The grapes were harvested entirely by hand and pressed as whole clusters using a long, gentle pressing that lasted up to three hours. This careful method delicately extracts the grape's most refined aromas and flavors while preserving the authenticity, elegance, and character of this unique varietal.
